Simply Silver
Celtic Jewelry History
Simply Silver
came into being over 25 years ago when I finally ran out of places to put all the
jewelry I was making. Unlike many of the web sites you will visit I do
make all my own jewelry. I have well over 2,500 molds that I have made and
use for lost wax casting.
The jewelry I
offer for sale is all sterling silver unless otherwise specified. I buy my
silver in casting grains from a refinery and it is all assayed as to quality.
This is not always true of some imported silver jewelry. When you do
"lost wax casting" you can use up to 35% "old" silver with
new, anything more causes the finished piece to be dull and almost impossible to
"shine up". You will find this problem in some Mexican and
Asiatic silver jewelry.
Once I finish
a piece I completely oxidize or blacken it and then re-polish the high areas
leaving the black in the engraved lines to bring the design into sharp contrast
and detail.
